Prevalence, pandemic, preventions and policies to overcome antimicrobial resistance
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing concern in Asia, with the World Health Organization (WHO) highlighting it as a major cause of death. AMR has caused 4.95 million fatalities and 1.27 million deaths in 2019. The WHO has provided a core package of actions to help countries prioritize their needs in creating and overseeing national action plans. The people-cantered approach addresses healthcare barriers and improves public and policymakers’ awareness of AMR. The report highlights the increasing resistance to antibiotics in human bacterial infections and the need for better data. Implementing policies and interventions is crucial to overcome AMR in Asia.
